It’s that time of year again….the second half of property taxes, (normally due on October 31 except for it’s falling on a weekend) must be post-marked or paid online by Monday November 2 to avoid a penalty.
Many owners pay their property taxes with their monthly mortgage payment, but many others either own their properties outright, or opted out of escrow reserves when closing on their existing loan.
If you’ve misplaced your tax coupon and are unsure what your balance is, you can look up your tax account here.
Your payment should be made out to: King County Treasurer and mailed to:
500 Fourth Avenue, Room 600
Seattle, WA 98104
Make sure you include your property tax id number on your check. The County website also has an option for e-check/online payment, but only if the payment is being made by Monday. Late payments can only be mailed.
As Mark Twain once said, .
“I shall never use profanity except in discussing house rent and taxes.”
With home values having declined significantly since the assessment period we are now paying for, my guess is there will be more than a few tax payers grumbling a la Mr. Twain
