Tahoma schools are known for high
academic achievement and innovative teaching practices. Tahoma is
also known for consistently posting among the highest scores in
standardized tests in King County. The district is a recognized
leader in Washington state in implementing key elements of
educational reform. Many school districts across the country have
implemented curriculum changes based on Tahoma's integrated
curriculum model.
Tahoma School District's approximately 5,700 students live within a 90 square mile area and are transported by district-owned buses. All students are eligible to ride buses to and from schools. The district is bordered by Kent, Enumclaw, Issaquah, and Renton school districts
The district operates four elementary schools, one middle school for grade 7 and half of grade 8, a junior high for half of grade 8 and all of grade 9, and senior high school for grades 10 - 12. The district operates an alternative high school for students who do not fit in the traditional high school setting.
