Everyone I know who has lived on the
Cedar River here in
Maple Valley says it is the most peaceful experience, listening to the rushing water, watching the
salmon spawn upstream in the Fall. If you've always dreamed of living on river front property, here in Maple Valley the Cedar River is it!
Many of the homes along the river have loads of charm and unique features. There is definitely an eclectic mix from which to choose, older cabins which have been added on to over time, one bedroom homes up to million dollar plus listings...there's definitely a variety to choose from. One thing I'm asked about is flooding and although it depends on exactly where along the Cedar River the property is located, many of the flooding issues of the past have been alleviated due to work by the Army Corp of Engineers. It's always best to take each property individually and research past flooding with the proper sources.
The Cedar River is also a favorite hangout on hot summer days. You'll notice many cars parked alongside Hwy 169 in the Summer as people tube down river to stay cool. Although I've personally never gotten up the nerve to try it, my kids have and say it's a blast!
